Trabucar en occitan

In the seventeenth century lived in France a man who was one of the most brilliant and most abominable characters of that time, who nevertheless was not lacking in abominable geniuses. It is his story that we have to tell here. His name was Jean-Baptiste Grenouille and if his name, unlike those of other genius scoundrels such as Sade, Saint-Just, Fouchet, Bonaparte, etc., has now been forgotten, it is certainly not that Grenouille was less puffed up with pride, less enemy of humanity, less immoral , in a word less impious than these more illustrious evil-doers, but it is that his genius and his unique ambition were limited to an area that leaves no trace in history: in the evanescent realm of smells.
